Lineisy Montero has it down to an exact science.Cocktail dress with long sleeves  During New York Fashion Week, the Dominican beauty, who walked for Tory Burch, took Vogue along for her pre-catwalk routine. On the agenda? Coffee, delicious avocado toast, and then lots and lots of glam touch-ups before the show.

As this New York Fashion Week was Montero’s first post-COVID, she was excited to hit the runway again. “It feels really amazing to be back,” says Montero. “Something that I always love about fashion is that at every show, you are a different character.” She began her day at her hotel, where she slipped on a chic yellow coat and headed out to her favorite coffee shop, the In Command Café, for some fuel. After ordering a latte and avocado toast, she took a few street snaps in the city with her polaroid—it’s one of her hobbies!—and then headed to midtown Manhattan to get ready for the event, where she had some pre-show jitters. Long cocktail dresses with sleeves “I’m always a little bit nervous before I go out on the catwalk,” she says.

Montero ran into some of her model friends like Selena Forrest and Majesty Amare backstage, and then it was onto walk rehearsals. No matter the show, the model says she always allows the clothing to dictate her walk. “I always get the feeling from the clothes,” Montero says. “That feeling that I [get from them] is what I give on the catwalk.” Slipping into Tory Burch’s look 28, a color-blocked turtleneck dress, Montero landed on a “confident and straight” strut. Her number-one piece of advice for models who are new to the grueling fashion month schedule? Cocktail dress long sleeve “This is your moment, so just enjoy it,” she says, just before hitting the runway and commanding the spotlight. Above, watch Montero’s full day in the life video.
